profile
Southern
Coast Transit was the trading entity of the Transport
Management Group Pty. Ltd., a Melbourne based company
formed in 1995 in response to the stated intention
of Western Australian State Government's decision to
privatize commuter bus services.
TMG's business credentials and transport industry experience
were recognized in June 1996 when it was selected as
the Transperth service provider in the Rockingham and
Mandurah area and again in April 1998 as the preferred
supplier of services in the Perth CBD and Fremantle areas,
south of Perth, Western Australia.
On
1 June 1999 The Transport Management Group and Southern
Coast Transit joined the National Express Group, a
UK based International Company with subsidiaries in
the UK, Europe, USA and now Australia. In addition
to Southern Coast Transit, National Express' Australian
Companies are Westbus, servicing Sydney and Queensland,
National Bus Company and the train and tram franchises
in Melbourne.
On 1 October 2004 Southern Coast became a member of Veolia
Transport Australia, the largest private provider of
passenger transport in Australasia. Established in 1997,
it manages commuter rail networks in Melbourne and Auckland;
the monorail and lightrail in Sydney; and buses in Sydney,
Brisbane and Perth. For more information, visit www.connexaustralia.com.au.
In
2006, the company ceased to be a member of the Transport
Management Group and is now named Veolia Transport
Perth Pty. Ltd. trading as Southern Coast Transit.
